Shaanxi Provincial Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Hospital (the Fifth People's Hospital of Shaanxi Province) is a Grade A tuberculosis specialist hospital directly under the provincial Health Commission. It undertakes the tasks of tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis and treatment, scientific research, teaching, remote video consultation, training and management of grassroots professionals in the province.
For more than 60 years, the history of the hospital can be traced back to the establishment of the Northwest Military and Political Commission Health Bureau cadres Sanatorium on November 10, 1949. In 1954, the Northwest cadres Sanatorium and the Shaanxi cadres Rest Center were merged into the Shaanxi Tongyuanfang Cadres Sanatorium. In 1956, the provincial Federation of Trade Unions prepared to build Shaanxi Xi'an Workers' Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Taiyi Palace, Chang 'an County. From September to November 1958, Shaanxi Tongyuanfang cadres' Sanatorium and Shaanxi workers' Sanatorium were merged in Taiyi Palace, which was then called Shaanxi Workers’ Sanatorium of Trade Unions in Taiyi Palace and opened for treatment in December. In 1962, it was renamed Shaanxi Provincial Tuberculosis Hospital. In 1975 It was renamed Shaanxi Provincial Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Hospital. In 2009, the brand of the Fifth People's Hospital of Shaanxi Province was added to it.
The hospital has 800 beds. With tuberculosis internal medicine and tuberculosis surgery as the key disciplines, the hospital has drug-resistant tuberculosis, severe tuberculosis, tuberculous meningeoencephalitis, tuberculous pleurisy, tuberculosis combined with hepatitis, tuberculosis combined with diabetes, bronchial tuberculosis, and non-tuberculous mycobacterium tuberculosis. Thoracic surgery, spine osteoarticular tuberculosis, lymphatic tuberculosis, abdominal pelvic enteric tuberculosis, gynecological tuberculosis, pediatric tuberculosis, reproductive system tuberculosis, traditional Chinese and Western medicine and other specialties, tuberculosis specialty and comprehensive surgery open no holiday outpatient clinics.
